My Story
Hi there, my name is Linnet Marian Chihaka, and welcome to my virtual space. I am a 500H RYT yoga Instructor, aspiring Holistic Therapist, Designer, daughter, sister, aunt, and most of all a lover. I believe that yoga is a very personal practice. To me, it is the glue that holds my overall well-being together. It continues to provide me with endless tools that help me navigate my life mindfully and move smoothly through adversity.”
Yoga introduced me to the simple beauty of sitting down, taking some time to come into the body, to reflect, simply be and navigate life from a more grounded space. I am 500hr Vinyasa trained and I find myself falling more and more in love with the marriage between the Chinese philosophy of Daoism & Indian Tantric Yoga. I consider myself an eternal student of life in the beautiful practice that is Yoga.
What I Teach
Vinyasa Yoga - all movements in a vinyasa class are coordinated with your breathing, and there's no break in between poses. Instead, "you're just dynamically moving from one to the next.
Yin Yoga - yin is a slow and meditative practice, we hold poses for a minimum of 2 minutes and let gravity take over to deepen us into our full expression. By holding the poses for longer in a calm setting, we access the parasympathetic nervous system (a rest and digest state rather than fight or flight). Whilst at the same time physically we are gently stretching our connective tissue( tendons, fasciae, ligaments) which makes them longer & stronger, increasing flexibility and blood flow to our joints.
YinYang Flow - Also known as YinYasa, this is a hybrid of yang (active yoga) with yin (passive yoga). It's usually. a 60-minute class, 30 minutes of gentle yoga to build strength, warmth, and flow with fundamental yoga postures while relieving stress and tension by connecting breath with mindful movements. Then 30 minutes of yin (or passive yoga) to create flexibility, mindfulness, and softness to release the connective tissues, create space and integrity in the joints and remove blockages to internal energy flow.
My Approach
I deliver a very gentle & nurturing teaching approach that allows you to connect with your inner silence whilst building strength & capacity.
Accompanied by affirmations, I focus on the healing properties of yoga such as using the breath as an anchor back to the self, using yoga props in order to cultivate a sense of support and using asana(postures) for perspective into our everyday life.
Breath is the very reason for our being. With a slow and steady inhalation to exhalation ratio, breathing deeply signals our parasympathetic nervous system to calm the body down. Long, deep breaths can also manage our stress responses to help decrease anxiety, fear, racing thoughts, a rapid heartbeat, and shallow chest breathing.
Healing & well-being is more than just a therapy session, a few blunts, or affirmations, Healing is an everyday effort that takes a lot of, intention, willingness, surrendering & help.
